Vintage sports cars such as this 1974 Porsche 911 are made lightweight to compete with higher powered cars of the era. This usually means that the chassis stiffness is not great compared to modern cars that benefit from computer aided design. Stitch or seem welding is common in rally racing and does improve the chassis torsional rigidity. In this video I measure the before and after benefit of strategically welding my Porsche 911.
